In Malmköping, there is, among other things, the Swedish Local Transport Museum with, among other things, trams from many of Sweden's tramway cities.

Sörmlandsleden
Sörmlandsleden is a ring-shaped system of hiking trails that includes a total of approximately 1,000 km of groomed trails in Södermanland. The places that the trail passes include Södertälje, Trosa, Nyköping, Stavsjö, Katrineholm, Hälleforsnäs, Malmköping and Järna
Sörmlandsleden stage 20
Malmköping - Heneradalen, 6 km
Parking: Currently, it is not possible to reach the reserve's parking by car. Parking is available next to the road barrier just after Lisätter. See marking roadblock on stage map.
Wind shelter and dass: Västersjön - N 59° 07.256′, E 16° 47.880′
The stage starts through the Henaredalen nature reserve. A slightly longer way via the ancient castle, up there on the other hand you have a fantastic view.
Henardalen is a nature reserve with a botanically and zoologically very interesting and wonderful spring and early summer bloom. Please note that dogs must be kept on a leash all year round.
The reserve also contains Skansberget, an ancient castle with a lovely view of Lake Henaren. You can also see that the beaver has been active at the shoreline.
The trail goes through alternating large spruce forest and very beautiful rock outcrops with open pine forest.
After about 2 km of hiking, you will arrive at the "Gate of Hell". The original road between Dunker and Hyltinge ran between two mountain peaks, where people were forced to push forward their teams of horses, hence the name "Hell's Gate".
Further on, the trail passes Mörtsjön - a nice little pond.
A number of very large rocks can be seen along the trail. The border point "Staven" is a large border cairn, which used to be the border point for four parishes. It is passed approximately in the middle of the stage.
Towards the end of the stage, the trail goes through varied deciduous forest with lots of spring flowers.
At the stage finish is the Malmköping campsite. Here there are baths and the possibility to fill up with water. In Malmköping there is also the option of staying in a hotel. Here you can eat and stock up.
Sörmlandsleden Stage 21
Malmköping - Hagtorp, 10,5 km
Water: Source at Sundbysjön - N 59° 09.419′ E 16° 41.949′
Heifers and bulls can be found in the Malma nature reserve. At the end of the stage before Hagtorp, there may also be horses and sheep.
From the campsite at Hosjön, the hike goes up to Plevnahöjden with its war memories. There you pass Hotel Malmköping where you can eat something or fill up your lunch bag.
The trail then crosses Eskilstunavägen and then you come up to the Malma nature reserve with views over the bird-rich Sundbysjön and Dunkerbygden. At the height of Sundbysjön there is a cold spring.
Navestasjön passes revue before we walk on the overgrown old country road and through Mordgrind - the place where engineer Herman Upmark was murdered in 1874. The perpetrators Hjert and Tector were the last to be publicly executed in our country in 1876.
A few hundred meters from Navesta, you can see a strange lake on the left, it has an underground connection with lake Akaren. The small island visible in the middle of the lake wanders back and forth.
At the lake Nälen, which can be seen to the right of the trail, Stone Age settlements have been found. This lake is also considered to be one of Sörmland's most important bird lakes.
Just before we reach the stage finish is the gallows where Hjert was beheaded in 1876. Tector was executed the same day on Gotland. Those were the last public executions in our country.
